What is the most effective way to ensure my feet remain on the ‘cycle pedals?

Kegan M asked:

I’ve got a mild form of cerebral palsy and have difficulty forcing my feet to remain flat as I cycle bike pedals. What is the most effective setup I could utilize to ensure a STRONG and otherwise permanent (i.e not loosening without my help) foot grip on road pedals?

Are clips/cleats really the best way to go? I don’t think I’d feel as secure with just a strap, either.

Thanks

Same answers as before apply.

Cleat tension is adjustable on most pedals. I typically click out on the left side, so I have the tension set lower on the left than the right.
